Prayer
*Every Sunday, the men of Pacific Hope Church meet at 8 AM, committing this time to praying for the sermon, our messenger, and for those hearing the message. This time of prayer will take place in the Youth Building every Sunday during the first service. As our team grows, we hope to have people praying during second service as well Consider joining us as we come boldly to the throne and lift our pastor and church up in prayer.*
In prayer, God Himself is the foundation, the Holy Spirit
is the intercessor, Paul is the example, and the Saints are the
encouragers and exhorters. As the body of Christ is called to pray without ceasing, our Intercessory Prayer Team
stands in the gap for our church and your personal prayer requests every
week.
Join us for prayer in the sanctuary from 6-7 AM every Wednesday morning. You are also invited to join us for Corporate Prayer the last Wednesday of every month in the sanctuary from 7-8:30 PM.
If you would like to join the Intercessory Prayer Team, or would like to submit a prayer request, us or fill out a Chat Card after Sunday Service.
GOD HIMSELF
But Jesus would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. - Luke 5:16
It was at this time He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the
whole night in prayer to God. - Luke 6:12
After bidding them farewell, He left for the mountain to pray. - Mark
6:46
In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the
house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. - Mark
1:35
In
the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud
crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard
because of His piety. - Hebrews 5:17
The
surprise of the onlookers lay in this, that one so mighty, so richly endowed
with spiritual power, should find it necessary for Himself to repair to the
source of strenght, that there He might refresh His weary spirit. To us,
the wonder is still greater, that He, the prince of Life, the Eternal word, the
Only-begotten of the Father, should prostrate Himself in meekness before the
throne of God, making entreaty for grace to help in time of need.

HOLY SPIRIT
…for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself
intereceds for us with groaning too deep for words; and He who seraches the
hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedss for the
saints according to the will of God. - Romans 8:26,27
PAUL
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and
thanksgiving be made for everyone. - 1 Timothy 2:1
With
all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view,
be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints…
- Ephesians 6:18
SAINTS
Prayer is the acid test of devotion. - Samuel Chadwick
All vital praying makes a drain on a man's vitality. True
intercession is a sacrifice, a bleeding sacrifice. - J.H. Jowett
Work,
work from early till late. In fact I have so much to do that I shall
spend the first three hours in prayer. - Martin Luther
Mastering
the art of prayer, like anything else, takes time. The time we give it
will be a true measure of its importance to us. We always find the time
for important thing. - J. Oswald Sanders
Epaphras,
who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his
greetings, always laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand
perfect and fully assured in all the will of God. - Colossians 4:12
It
is possible to move men, through God, by prayer alone. - Hudson Taylor
Our spiritual immutarity never shows up more than in our lack of praying,
be it alone or in a church prayer meeting. Let 20% of the chior members fail to
turn up for rehearsal and the chior master is offended. Let 20% of the church
members turn up for a prayer meeting, and the pastor is elated.
- Leonard
Ravenhill
Prayer
move the arm that moves the world to bring deliverance down.

They were not leaders because of brilliance of thought, because they were
exhaustless in resources, because of their magnificent culture or native
endowment, but because, by the power of prayer, they could command the power of
God. - E.M. Bounds
A
prayerless soul is a Christless soul. Prayer is the lisping of the believing
infant, the shout of the fighting believer, the requiem of the dying saint
falling asleep in Jesus. It is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the
strength, the honour of a Christian. - Charles H. Spurgeon
No church group that knows spiritual warfare has wiener roasts or even
passion plays. There is a real warfare. I have said before that we are an
arrogant, self-styled bunch of believers. We "believe" to the point
of inconvenience - and then quit. -
Leonard Ravenhill
The reason why many fail in battle is because they wait until the hour of
battle. The reason why others succeed is because they have gained their victory
on their knees long before the battle came...Anticipate your battles; fight
them on your knees before temptation comes, and you will always have victory. - R. A. Torrey
A
prayerless man is proud and independent, and any church that neglects corporate
prayer is sadly no better. Only God's humble and needy children take the time
to pray. Everyone else is just going through the motions and naively trusting
in their own strength! - David Smithers
We
are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great
deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services but few conversions;
much machinery but few results. - R. A. Torrey
The
one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing
from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at
our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.
- Samuel Chadwick
Bear
up the hands that hang down, by faith and prayer; support the tottering knees.
Have you any days of fasting and prayer? Storm the throne of grace and
persevere therein, and mercy will come down. - John Wesley
Hell
is larger today than it was yesterday, because many of us have failed to pray. -
David Smithers
A man who is intimate with God will never be intimidated by men.
- Leonard Ravenhill
We can never expect to grow in the likeness of our Lord unless we follow
His example and give more time to communion with the Father. A revival of real
praying would produce a spiritual revolution. - E.M. Bounds
I
can no longer condemn or hate a brother for whom I pray, no matter how much
trouble he causes me. His face, that hitherto may have been strange and
intolerable to me, is transformed into the countenance of a brother for whom
Christ died, the face of a forgiven sinner. - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
