RENOWN - "Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts." Isaiah 26:8 (NIV)
Our hope is that when your child leaves Student Ministries that he or she will have this same desire, to make God RENOWN among the nations. We desire to accomplish this in a variety of ways that range from Wednesday Night Youth Group, Winter and Summer Camp Trips, Service Projects, Mission Trips, Expository Teaching, and Volunteers that will pour into your child's life.
Wednesday Night Youth Group: This will be our opportunity to reach out to the youth of our day; this will be a night that is geared more towards games, fellowship, and a time of teaching through the Old Testament. The desire of RENOWN is to help foster and grow friendships that are based upon the common bond of Jesus Christ, as well as teach our youth how to rely upon each other through accountability relationships. (Currently on break)
Winter and Summer Camp: RENOWN will facilitate two camps per year, this past year we went to Gloreitta, New Mexico for our Summer Camp and had the great pleasure of watching youth's life's changed right in front of us. This is a time that we as a ministry hold near and dear to us, and could not imagine a summer or winter without a camp. Camp is a time that we have an incredible opportunity to pour into the youth both as spiritual leaders as well as leaders that serve not only as friends but as mentors as well.
Service Projects: As the leaders of RENOWN we believe that this is where the rubber meets the road. This will be an area of great importance to us, to serve the corporate body on the last Wednesday night of every month by providing child care for Corporate Prayer. We also will volunteer a couple times a year to provide help for certain individuals from the body of Pacific Hope to not only bless them with help, but to also bless our youth with a desire to serve the local body. If we can teach them now to love to serve the body this will only foster a desire for them to want to serve when they leave Student Ministries and continue on into life.
Mission Trips: We will conduct one mission trip a year; this will be an opportunity for the youth of RENOWN to minister to people of walks of life. This will also be an opportunity for our youth to share their faith (what it is that God is doing in their life's). We will always try to schedule our mission trips during Spring Break.
Expository Teaching: Pacific Hope Church teaches in a manner known as Expository Preaching. Expository preaching is preaching that carefully and accurately reads, explains, and applies the ancient text to modern day hearers. We believe and hold to the same style of teaching in RENOWN, teaching the Word of God verse by verse. We practice expository preaching because the Scriptures require us to accurately handle the Word of God, because we are to teach all of God's Word, because teachers incur a stricter judgment, because expository preaching teaches people by example how to read, study, interpret, and apply the Bible to their lives, and because we see it modeled and commanded in the Word of God. To make the bible understandable and applicable to the lives of our youth is important to us here at RENOWN. This is a time in which we believe we can best equip our youth to be lights to a world of corruption that is present on most college campuses, as well as in most areas of work.
We as a group at RENOWN thank you for the opportunity to serve your child here at Student Ministries.
