Invitation to Prayer

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4:4-6)

April-May, 2020

Beloved Pacific Hope Church Family,

During this time of physical separation, we have the abiding comfort and joy of our unity in the Spirit as the body of Christ.   As we remember our “access in one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18), we invite you to join us every evening at 8:30 pm for the next five weeks, pausing together for five minutes as one body in prayer.

We offer the following topics with Scriptures to guide our prayers.

Week 6 - May 10, 2020

This week, we ask you to pray for those in authority, including our Pastor and Elders. Pray for wisdom and discernment in leadership, rich times of study and devotions, and for physical and spiritual protection (1 Timothy 2:1-2; 1 Kings 3:9; Joshua 1:8; Ezra 7:10).

Week 7 - May 17, 2020

Pray for our Church.  Pray for spiritual growth and maturity, unity in the body, and protection from the enemy (Psalm 19:7-14; Ephesians 5:8-10; Colossians 1:9-14; Ephesians 4:1-6; Romans 12:15-16; Galatians 6:2; 2 Peter 2:1; Matthew 7:15; 1 Peter 5:8).

Week 8 - May 24, 2020

Pray for our Children and Youth.  Pray for personal relationships with Christ, spiritual maturity and boldness for the Gospel, purity in thought and action, and wisdom for parents to train up their children according to the Word (1 Timothy 4:12; Romans 12:1; Deuteronomy 6:7-9; Ephesians 6:4).

Week 9 - May 31, 2020

Pray for our Volunteers, especially as they come together to help prepare our church to reopen.  Pray for service according to gifts and abilities, proper perspective and motivation in service, right handling of the Word, and proper rest (Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Colossians 3:17, 23-24; Ephesians 6:5-7; Galatians 6:9-10; 2 Timothy 3:8-13; Titus 1 & 2; 2 Timothy 2:15; Ephesians 6:19; Exodus 20:8, Ezekiel 20:12, 20).

Week 10 - June 7, 2020

Pray for our Sunday Service, and our anticipated coming back together soon.  Pray that worship remains a means of teaching and spiritual growth; for sound doctrine in teaching, for saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ for the unregenerate in attendance; for protection and safety for all within our building and property; for proper functioning of technical equipment (Colossians 3:16; Colossians 1:27-29; 2 Peter 3:18).

Above all, may the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified in all that we say and do during this unprecedented time. Regardless of what we see, regardless of what we feel, Jesus Christ, our loving Savior and Good Shepherd, sits on His throne and rules His universe.

While we don’t know how long it will be until we can meet together again, may this season remind us never to take for granted the privilege and freedom we have in joining together for worship.
